Now..... The War On Drugs. The War on Drugs has been raging in our beloved country for over 40 years with no victory in sight and with no visible terms of peace negotiations on the table. The hardest battles have been fought with the inner-city communities populated by predominately poor blacks. Blacks only represent 13% of the total population but are 60% of the prison population. The nations arrest statistics show that whites are arrested more often than blacks for drugs, but are not being sentenced to prison as often as blacks.

70% of the drug offenders in prison are low level, non-violent drug offenders who are mostly addicts themselves. On the flip side, those statistics show that 70% of the real drug dealers remain free. 30% of these arrests are of low-level open air dealers. The sentences that are handed out by judges under the oppressive mandatory minimum sentencing guidelines are crushing black families and dashing any hope of a productive future after a lengthy sentence.

The War on Drugs is truly a War on Minorities. Why would this country declare war on her own people? I believe that The War on Drugs is a money making scheme that plays in to an extremely greedy capitalist agenda to turn a profit. The War on Drugs created bigger government that needs more staff which needs a bigger budget. The War on Drugs created prison jobs in rural communities who lost their jobs to cheaper labor over seas. The War on Drugs stripped millions of Americas rights granted to them under the Constitution. Millions of Americans can not vote, join the Army or carry fire arms due to their felony record pertaining to drugs. The War on Drugs needs to come to an end. Who will broker peace for us? #MY2CENTZ
